Neuralink is developing brain-machine interfaces or ways to speed up the sending and receiving of information between human brains and computers.

Humans already have supercomputers at their disposal: their phones. The way we interact with our phones is relatively super slow- the interface we have available is most commonly our two thumbs.

As Neuralink reiterates on their technology, these interfaces can be used in many different ways- some that are inspiring, some sci-fi-esque, and ways that some may consider creepy. I am most excited about the potential to eliminate the negative effects of brain disorders like Parkinson’s Disease or Alzheimer’s.

Neuralink is most known for it’s visionary leader and founder Elon Musk. In the past, Elon has talked about a variety of these applications on podcast interviews, on Twitter, and a public Neuralink launch event around this time last year. He’s described the brain-machine interface technology in this way: humans already have supercomputers at their disposal, but the speed of data transmission is relatively super slow. Our phones are supercomputers, but the interface…
